Chongqing General Hospital, a Profile

The hospital offers 53 clinical and medical technical departments, including four national key clinical specialties and development projects (Allergy, Medical Laboratory, General Surgery, Geriatrics). It also participates in one national complex disease diagnosis enhancement project (Cardiovascular Diseases) and has been approved as a pilot for the National Flagship Hospital for Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine and as a Chongqing Branch of the China National Clinical Research Center for Neurological Diseases. It also has six municipal-level key medical disciplines, 17 municipal-level key clinical specialties, one municipal-level medical specialty, one municipal-level key public health discipline construction project, five municipal-level key laboratories, four municipal-level clinical research centers, three municipal-level research institutes, and two municipal-level research offices. It has been approved as the Chongqing Clinical Testing Center, Chongqing Bone and Joint Disease Medical Center, Chongqing Thyroid Nodule and Thyroid Cancer Specialized Clinical Center, Chongqing Lung Nodule and Early Lung Cancer Specialized Clinical Center, and Chongqing Brain Glioma Precision Medicine Research Center.

The hospital has a capacity of 2,000 beds, with 2,545 staff members, including 2,267 medical professionals, 426 senior professionals, and 145 Ph.D. holders. It is home to a group of highly esteemed professionals, including dual-appointed academicians, Changjiang Scholars, current chairpersons of the Chinese Medical Association, leaders of the Ministry of Education’s Development Plan of Changjiang Scholar and Innovative Team, experts receiving special government allowances from the State Council, as well as Ph.D. and Master’s supervisors. It has been approved as a national-level postdoctoral research station, a national standardized training base for resident physicians (with 18 specialized bases), a national standardized training base for clinical pharmacists, a national clinical trial institution for drugs and medical devices, Chongqing’s standardized training base for medical technology (General Surgery, Gastroenterology), Chongqing’s nurse training base, and Chongqing’s specialized nurse training base (Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Health Management, Gastroimmunology).
